Rooted locally. Active locally.
I was born in Cornwall and have lived locally for over 13 years. Over that time, I’ve become increasingly involved in Redruth through community projects, getting to know people locally, and by regularly attending Town Council meetings.
I’m standing for the Town Council because I’m already involved in the town and want to keep contributing in a practical, constructive way.
I previously served as a parish councillor in Carn Brea and worked as a lecturer at Cornwall College. My work has often focused on helping people develop practical skills and supporting projects that bring communities together.
Most people know me through projects like Fluxus and the Invention Club, where we run workshops and build interactive machines, games and automata with people of all ages. Last year, we also delivered the Cornish Contraptions exhibition, bringing together 19 makers and around 1,000 visitors.
In recent years, I have:
- regularly attended and participated in Town Council meetings
- pushed for earlier and more accessible council meeting minutes
- raised concerns where decisions were not properly following local planning policies
- helped deliver town-centre events and exhibitions
- worked with local groups exploring positive uses for empty spaces
Through this work, I’ve seen first-hand how much energy and creativity exists in Redruth when local people are given the chance to make things happen.
I want to see the Town Council play a more active role in supporting that energy, helping remove small barriers, and making it easier for good ideas to move forward.
I’m always happy to talk to people locally about ideas, concerns, or ways to improve the town.
